For years, I’d wanted a custom ammo case. Watching the pros with their sturdy, customized cases carefully protecting their high-quality, custom-loaded ammo, I’d always told myself that one day, I’d invest in something similar. But, as with anything custom in this sport, it can get expensive. Then, one day while scrolling through a shooting Facebook group, I came across a post from Jake Jones, the owner of Zeroed In Outdoors, and knew I had to reach out. Jake’s cases are built to order, tailored specifically to each customer’s needs, and he’s approachable and responsive, dedicated to ensuring each case is as functional and unique as the shooter using it. If you’re interested in a custom design, you can reach him directly through his website or on his Facebook profile.
My Interaction with Jake

Working with Jake was fantastic from the start. He’s not only knowledgeable but also deeply committed to creating a product that’s both functional and personalized. We went over my needs in detail, and he immediately grasped the vision I had for this case. Jake explained that he personally makes the inserts and the desiccant holder, carefully designing each one to keep rounds resting on the shoulder, facing down, with plenty of clearance. For my 6.5 Creedmoor rounds, this setup provides an ideal combination of security and accessibility.
As we continued planning, Jake outlined the different options he could include, like a tempature and humidity sensor to help keep my rounds in peak condition. He’s meticulous about sourcing high-quality components, handling everything from the box to the inserts, making sure each piece aligns with the case’s overall design. He even asked about engraving options, letting me add a personalized touch that would make the case truly my own.
Pricing and Customization Options

Jake was upfront about costs from the start, which I really appreciated. In the end, the fully loaded version—with all the features I wanted—came to around $150. This included the case itself, a custom holding insert Jake crafted, a desiccant holder, and a temperature sensor to keep my rounds in optimal condition. For those who may not need all the extras, Jake also offers more basic models at a lower price point, allowing for flexibility based on your setup.

To simplify the process, Jake sources the main case directly from Amazon, which speeds up the process while ensuring a high-quality base for the custom inserts. Jake mentioned estimated it would hold about 150 rounds but can vary on the caliber and layout. Keep in mind I got custom "Black Plague Precision" writing in mine.
For moisture control, Jake recommended using Wisesorb Silica Gel Beads, a high-quality option that helps prevent moisture from affecting the rounds. Adding these beads to the desiccant holder ensures an extra level of protection, especially for long-term storage.

You may also notice a timer in the setup—that was my own addition. I found the AVINIA Digital Kitchen Timer was almost the perfect fit, although it cost me a few rounds in capacity. Had I mentioned it to Jake, I’m sure he could have worked around that, but I was happy to customize it myself for a bit of added functionality.
Why Zeroed In Outdoors Stands Out
The level of care Jake puts into his work makes a real difference. From the custom inserts to the desiccant holder, every detail reflects his commitment to quality and precision. Jake truly goes above and beyond to ensure each case is as unique as the shooter using it, offering options like engraving for that extra personalized touch. Working with Jake was seamless—he made the process feel effortless. He communicated updates clearly and frequently, making sure I was involved at every step.
What stood out most was the range of options he provided. I felt like I had the freedom to customize nearly every aspect, from storage capacity to added features, allowing me to build the exact case I’d always wanted. Jake’s expertise and dedication turned a custom build into a quick and enjoyable experience, and the final result is a case that’s not only functional but perfectly tailored to my needs.
Putting the Custom Ammo Case to the Test
I’ve taken this case to range days, practices, and competitions, and it always catches the eye of those around me. It’s not every day you see someone carrying over 100 rounds with a built-in temperature and humidity monitor and a timer. This case has quickly become a valuable addition to my gear, helping me keep my custom loads secure and in top condition. I no longer have to worry about rounds getting bumped around in a soft case, and now I can monitor the internal conditions to check for any noticeable changes as the day heats up.
All in all, this was an incredible buy. Jake’s attention to detail and commitment to quality made a real difference, and I’d highly recommend his cases to anyone looking for a reliable, customizable solution for storing and transporting ammo.
