BAT MACHINE

World-class rifle actions built on decades of competitive shooting experience.

BAT Machine has long been regarded as one of the benchmark manufacturers of precision rifle actions in the world. Founded by Bruce Thom and rooted deeply in the benchrest tradition, the company built its reputation on uncompromising machining standards, mechanical consistency, and a refusal to cut corners in pursuit of production volume. BAT actions became a fixture in disciplines where absolute precision matters most, including Benchrest, F-Class, and other forms of long-range competition. In recent years the company has also expanded into the PRS space, developing actions designed to meet the demands of modern precision rifle competition while maintaining the same standards that built the brand. Over time the company expanded its designs to support a wider range of shooting disciplines while maintaining the same core philosophy that built its reputation. Every action is engineered with an emphasis on rigidity, repeatability, and long-term durability, which is why BAT continues to be trusted by top competitors, custom rifle builders, and serious shooters around the world.

The BAT Machine Hammerhead action was designed as a purpose built competition platform that blends the company’s traditional precision with faster, more efficient operation. It features a 75 degree two lug bolt lift that improves cycling speed while maintaining the strength, rigidity, and smooth feel BAT actions are known for. The design includes modular bolt components, dual bolt stop options for both standard and short travel competition cartridges, and compatibility with AICS pattern magazines through an adjustable magazine stop system. Built on a Remington 700 short action footprint with an integral 20 MOA rail and recoil lug, the Hammerhead is engineered to handle everything from BR and Dasher length cartridges to magnum class rounds while maintaining the consistency expected from a BAT competition action.

The BAT Machine Model VR is the company’s original Remington 700 footprint short action and remains a proven foundation for precision rifle builds across multiple disciplines. Built around BAT’s modular bolt system, the VR allows shooters to change bolt faces without replacing the entire bolt while maintaining the smooth operation and mechanical consistency the company is known for. A .070 inch firing pin tip supports reliable ignition and consistent performance, while the integral rail and recoil lug provide a rigid interface for modern competition rifles. The action can be configured as a repeater or single shot and supports a wide range of bolt face options, making it adaptable to cartridges from .223 through magnum class rounds.
